It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
